Incompatibility with XQuartz 2.7.11 on Mac and a Workaround

Post by jadelson »

Hi there,

I updated XQuartz X11 recently, which caused the Acolite (version 20170113.0) GUI to stop working because of a problem with IDL. I was able to find a successful workaround here: http://www.harrisgeospatial.com/Home/Ne ... L-851.aspx

Just want to keep you and anyone else who may run into this problem informed.

The link previously provided no longer works (http://www.harrisgeospatial.com/Home/Ne ... L-851.aspx). Does anyone have an updated link? I am experiencing the same problem using XQuartz 2.7.11 and ACOLITE 20170113.0.

I found this comment here and here:
Upgrading from XQuartz from 2.7.9 to 2.7.11 on macOS Sierra broke IDL widgets for me [...] The fix that worked for me were the following two commands:

sudo mv /opt/X11/lib/libXt.6.dylib{,.bak}
sudo cp /opt/X11/lib{/flat_namespace,}/libXt.6.dylib
Downgrading to 2.7.9 (but not 2.7.10) also worked for me.
Could you confirm whether that solves your issue?
