Editor workshop

On 28–29–30 September 2015, the AquaRES project hosted a workshop in Brussels in which around twenty WoRMS-FADA-RAMS taxonomic editors participated.

The main aim of this workshop was to bring together the specialists for both marine, marine Antarctic and freshwater taxa. During this 3 day meeting, the taxonomists discussed and crosschecked species occurring in the three aquatic species databases. In addition, we demonstrated and tested the data entry and publication tools and engaged the editors in completing distribution information.

The selected taxa that were considered as examples are the Annelida (Hirudinea, Oligochaeta, Polychaeta), Crustacea (Amphipoda, Cladocera, Copepoda, Decapoda, Mysidacea, Ostracoda), Platyhelminthes (Turbellaria), Gastrotricha, Rotifera and Nematoda.

The workshop's detailed program, leaflet and report are available below.

The aim of the meeting was to report on the project's progress, demonstrate developed tools, and set priorities for finalising project.

Topics discussed include for instance our plans to set up a Memorandum of Agreement to continue the collaboration between WoRMS and FADA beyond the projects term. Tools developed during the project include AquaCache for comparing checklists and the improved Lifewatch data services.
